A Fun, Safe Introduction to Horses for Kids Ages 8–12

If you’re looking for a confidence-building outdoor experience for your child this spring, Middle Fork Stables is offering a Beginner Horse Day Camp designed especially for kids ages 8–12 who are new to horses or just starting to ride.

This two-day camp focuses on safety, hands-on learning, and fun in a supportive, low-pressure environment. No prior horse experience is needed, making it a perfect first step into the world of horses.

Camp Dates & Schedule

Beginner Horse Day Camp will be held April 1 and April 2, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day. Families may choose to attend one day or both days, depending on availability and interest.

Designed for First-Time Riders

This camp is intentionally beginner-friendly. Kids will learn how to safely interact with horses, build confidence around them, and understand basic horse behavior before ever stepping into the saddle. Riding is optional and always fully supervised, with a focus on walking only.

What Kids Will Learn & Do

Throughout the day, campers will participate in a variety of activities that introduce them to horses in a fun, engaging way, including: Horse safety and barn rules

- Grooming and basic horse care

- Leading horses and learning ground skills

- Beginner riding at a walk

- Understanding horse behavior and communication

- Games, crafts, and confidence-building activities

- Water, a sack lunch, and a snack are provided each day.

Safety Comes First

Middle Fork Stables keeps group sizes small to ensure personal attention for every child. Campers work with gentle, well-trained horses and experienced instructors. Helmets are provided, and riding is always optional, allowing each child to participate at their own comfort level.

What to Bring

Campers should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes such as boots or sneakers.

Cost & Registration

The cost is $100 per child, per day. Space is limited to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
